Director – Industry Engagement, Monash University
Sarah Newton is currently the Director – Industry Engagement for Monash University. This role has a strategic and leadership focus in engaging with Industry, Government and Community organisations to establish research relationships. During this time Sarah has played a major role in facilitating the development of significant research collaborations including the formation of a number of new Institutes and Centres. These include ClimateWorks (in partnership with the Myer Foundation) and the Institute for Safety Compensation and Recovery Research (ISCRR) (in partnership with TAC & WorkSafe).
Sarah has implemented large research and educational projects in over 100 companies in Victoria, nationally and internationally. She has worked extensively with such organisations as; the Victoria Police, Airservices Australia, Toyota, Australia Post, Visy Industries and Goodman Fielder. Internationally she has worked with Governments from Korea, Philippines, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia and directed all Governance Training for AusAID. Before joining Monash University, Sarah worked as a Senior Manager in the TAFE sector where she chaired the National Heads of Business Committee for Management and also represented the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) in the rollout of Frontline Management throughout Australia.
Sarah Newton is the Group of Research Organisations Representative on the Management Committee for the Cities as Water Supply Catchments Program.
