Peter Poelsma

Research Assistant – Department of Civil Engineering, Monash University
p. (03) 9905 3837

After studying Environmental Science Peter worked in an analytical laboratory before joining the water team in the Civil Engineering Department at Monash University. During his years here, he has been involved in projects investigating the design and performance of stormwater treatment technologies, stormwater quality and quantity, integrated urban water management, and Water Sensitive Urban Design. Peter has managed many projects collecting data from stormwater pipes and waterways, wetlands, biofilters and other treatment systems, recycled stormwater initiatives, as well as laboratory based experiments. Peters expertise in field monitoring is now being drawn on in a project retrofitting rainwater tanks and raingardens to improve stream health in a small urban catchment in Melbourne’s east (Little Stringybark Creek project).
