The countless research and outreach activities led by the Centre for Water Sensitive Cities are grouped into three types of Programs:

  • Thematic Research Programs include both fundamental and applied research, and pull together an array of projects built around a central research ‘theme’ including (a) WSUD Treatment Technologies, (b) Urban Water Governance, (c) Ecosystem Dynamics, (d) Urban Climatology and (e) Implementation Models Programs.
  • Flagship Programs are highly integrated Programs which draw together many different areas of research and include Industry Outreach activities. The two main Flagship Programs currently led by the Centre are (a) the Cities as Water Supply Catchments Program and (b) the DAnCE 4 Water Program.
  • Outreach Programs aim to convert the new science generated by the Centre into adopted practice. These programs aim to engage with the implementers of new knowledge by finding non-traditional outlets and mechanisms for disseminating research findings. The intention is to feed policy, practitioners and the community progressively with interim findings so that research is adopted quickly, and can be shaped by feedback from these stakeholders. The Centre leads 2 Outreach Programs: (a) the Science-Policy Partnership and (b) the Capacity Building Program.
